The Home of the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA)

The junior golf program at the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy is separate from the Canongate instrructional program.Still, having exceptional juniors at the club who are coached by Hank Haney creates an exciting golf environment for everyone.

Two IJGA players after 18 holes at Canongate

Canongate at Pinecrest is the exclusive training center for the Hank Haney International Junior Tennis Academy and each IJGA student is a Member of the Club. The IJGA training program is not part of the Canongate instruction program but is its own golf academy. But, as Assistant Golf Pro J.D. Moss explained, having some of the top juniors in the world training at your club has a positive influence on all of the Canongate Members.

“Having Hank Haney around creates excitement that is good for our club and our members,” Moss said. “He’s a great teacher and he really works hard with those kids. And they are good. The other day the #2 junior from Spain was out here playing and some of the IJGA juniors that are only 13, 14 and 16 years old can shoot 65 from the blue tees!

Hank Haney is here a lot these days now that Tiger Woods is recuperating from surgery and that has unexpected benefits for our members. Just last week the truck from Taylor Made was here for two days and our members were able to try out any club they wanted. Hank Haney and these young players give this club something that other clubs just don’t have.”

The Pinecrest Community

The Pinecrest community is near the Bluffton schools and entrances to both the Buckwalter Parkway and the Bluffton parkway give quick access to all Bluffton locations. Pinecrest is a Centex development with 500 homes and three neighborhoods:

The entrryway and security gatehouse at Hampton Poiinte in Hardeeville, South Carolina.

Hampton Pointe is a private, gated golf community in Hardeeville, S.C.

A New Hilton Head Golf Community

Hampton Pointe is the Hilton Head’s newest private golf community with a big difference: a low membership fee of only $298 per month and no initiation fee.  $298 per month is the cost for both your club membership and the community maintenance and services!  The fees of other private golf club communities are much more: an approximate combination of

a $12,000 or more initiation fee, $750 per month membership fee and $10,000 a year or more POA fee.  Hampton Pointe’s low fee together with the high quality of this private golf and residential community makes this one of the best sales stories that I have heard in years.  Hampton Pointe should be considered by anyone looking for a private, gated, country club-style golf community for their retirement, relocation or second home in the Hilton Head area today.

The Carolina Homes are among the most popular models at Hampton Pointe because of their sizes and attractive one-story floor plans.

Developer Toll Brothers expects the $298 per month fee to increase gradually over time but not suddenly.   They have planned for future maintenace and capital improvements by charging reasonable fees on new home purchases and resales, as other established gated communities do today.

Hampton Pointe is a good place for people who want the lowcountry lifestyle but without the tourism.  Hampton Pointe is 12 miles from the bridge to Hilton Head in Hardeeville, South Carolina and just 6 miles from Rt 95.  Hampton Pointe is close to Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, Beaufort, Charleston and Savannah, Georgia.

The Hampton Pointe Clubhouse Will Be Luxurious

The new Jack Nicklaus Design golf course at Hampton Pointe will be finished soon and will be one of the best and most economical private golf courses in the Hilton Head area.

The Jack Nicklaus Hampton Pointe course nears completion.  This is the 1st hole, a par 4.

The 22,000 square foot luxury clubhouse will be the social center of the community.  It will be the location of the golf pro shop, the spacious men’s and  women’s  locker facilities, the health and fitness club, private dining room and informal grille room.  Construction on the clubhouse is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2009 with completion expected one year later.  The architectural firm   will be the same one that designed the clubhouses at Belfair and Berkeley Hall, two of the area’s best private golf communities.

Hampton Pointe Has Resort-Style Amenities

An outdoor swimming pool and tennis club with six courts will complete the resort-style amenities of Hampton Hall,

together with the Jack Nicklaus Design golf course.  The par 72 course is nearing completion and several of the holes are already playable.  It will have red, white, gold and black tees with lengths of 5,113 to 7,322 yards.  Insiders say  that Hampton Pointe will be one of the area’s best and even among the country’s top 100 courses.  Hampton Pointe has a 24-hour manned security gated entrance and is a private, members-only residential community.   Membership is mandatory and the cost is only $298 per month.

Hampton Pointe Offers Homes, Lots and Villas

The 850-acre private community has a variety of homes, home sites and villas for sale today:

The Golden Retriever tournament trophy sculpture was made by Indigo Run resident Dave Musial and he donated it to the GBMGA. The sculpture’s name is a play on the words "Golden Bear". It is made of polyform clay that looks like metal. Dave worked for the advertising firm Leo Burnett Company in Chicago for 17 years before he retired to Indigo Run with his wife Marty in 1999. He also designed the well known logo for the Golden Bear Golf Club that has the big bear paw with five digits.

After the tournament the players and their guests celebrated with a picnic lunch at the Golden Bear Club. GBMGA President Bob Engle said that everyone had a good time and the tournament was a success. The GBMGA has 25 members and they play every Saturday morning.

The Dolphin Head Golf Club Celebrates its 25th Anniversary with $25 Memberships!

March 9th, 2008 rkadesch Posted in Hilton Head Area Golf, Hilton Head Area Retirement Living, Hilton Head Gated Communities, Hilton Head Plantation No Comments »

The Dolphin Head Golf Club in Hilton Head Plantation is celebrating its Silver Anniversary by offering 25 memberships at $25 each!  You do not have to be a Hilton Head Plantation property owner to have a membership.  Individuals, families, residents and non-residents of Hilton Head Island may purchase these Silver Anniversary non-equity memberships and enjoy the Club’s private golf and entire guest and social privileges.  This is a significant savings on the usual cost of membership (also available) of $3,000 application fee plus $2,500 for an equity certificate.

The Dolphin Head course was designed by Gary Player and Ron Kirby.  The course opened in 1975 and was the first in Hilton Head Plantation.  The members purchased the club in 1983, built the clubhouse in 1986 and expanded it in 1998.  In recent years the course has received renovations to over 50 sand bunkers and to four putting greens under the supervision of golf architect Clyde Johnson. The clubhouse has a pro shop, men’s and women’s locker rooms, dining room and  the Manager’s office.  The dining room is open for lunch daily for dinner five evenings per month.  Social events are held throughout the year.

The course has six tees ranging from 2,180 to 3,307 yards with ratings and slopes of red 71.7/122, white 70.5/125 and blue 71.6/134.   The course covers some beautiful real estate near Port Royal Sound where majestic trees and area birds are abundant.   The mounds that surround the slightly elevated greens are a Dolphin Head ’trademark’.  There are water hazards on thirteen holes and the course has some of the longest par three holes in the area.

There is a full golf program of competitive and social events as well as golf instruction for men, women and juniors.  These include both a nine and eighteen hole women’s leagues and weekly men’s day.  There is   a variety of stoke, team and match play competitions, a flighted club championship, married couples championship and an annual two-day member-guest tournament.

Dolphin Head Golf Club has 310 total memberships.  A $25 membership fee for private golf is a great way to celebrate a Silver Anniversary.  For more details, contact Kirsty Kumm, Dolphin Head Golf Club Manager at 843-681-5550, X222.
